Venice is a city in northeastern Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. It is located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon which stretches along the shoreline, between the mouths of the Po and the Piave Rivers.
The city in its entirety is listed as a World Heritage Site, along with its lagoon.
From the city of Rijeka until Venice you have around 232 km or minimum 2,5 hours of driving. You should be prepared if you are going to Venice that nothing is for free.
I suggest that you leave your car in parking space in Mestre. This city is about 8 km from the Venice. We ‘ve found parking by the name Parco San Giuliano, 30173 Venice, first 3 hours the parking is free and after is 2 € per hour.
Then, you’ll be waiting for the transport (ACTV – Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano) to the Piazzale Roma (only one station further) and the ticket cost 1,5 € per person in one direction. From Piazzale Roma, you will be going by foot approx 25 min to the center of Venice.
You can also use others transportation like a taxi, gondola, and Vaporetto.
Center of Venice is Piazza San Marco, you should be prepared if you want to sit in the restaurants near by you will pay a bit higher price. In the little streets is possible that your GPS or mobile signal couldn’t connect with WiFi.
When you are going to visit some museum and churches you must follow their dress code and make sure your knees and shoulders are covered.
I’ll suggest making time to visit other places of interest in Strada Nova, including Santa Sofia Basilica, Church of Santi Apostoli, and San Felice Church.
